NEWTON FAULKNER

Newton Faulkner’s dextrous guitar playing technique has made him a marvel to watch, but it’s his superior music knowledge, and his unfaltering hard work, that has brought him to the attention of taste-makers here and in his home, the UK. Appearances in 2006 on BBC Radio 2 as well as a publishing deal with Peermusic UK compelled the Independent on Sunday to name him a "watch this face" artist. That year he went on to perform at the 2006 South by Southwest music festival which, along with his already-established hype, secured him a record deal with Sony BMG. In July 2007 he released his debut album Hand Built By Robots, which reached number 1 in his home country by late August. His second album Rebuilt by Humans, so named after his wrist and hand had to undergo reconstructive surgery after an accident he suffered on holiday in France, was released in September. It has since hit the top five in both Australia and the UK.
