JEFF BECK
The turn of the century has been kind to Jeff Beck. The 40-year veteran of music’s job descriptions run the gamut from lead guitarist in 60s beat group the Yardbirds to Grammy award-winning instrumental jazz fusionist, but he cooled his heels for much of the 90s. However, he sprang back into action in 1999, releasing Who Else!, an album of electronica-influenced instrumentals, and came back almost immediately with the highly experimental You Had it Coming in 2001. This momentum culminated in the release of Jeff in 2003, which earned Beck his first Grammy since the 80s, launched his first tour of the UK since 1990 and compelled EMI to remaster and reissue his seminal 60s albums with the Jeff Beck Group, Beck-Ola and Truth. The rest of the decade has been spent touring the US, Europe, Australia, Japan, and being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. He’ll round out the decade by releasing his sixteenth album and playing at West Coast Blues and Roots.
