DAVE HOLE

Born in England, Dave Hole moved to Perth when he was just four years old. Due to a shortage of guitar teachers in his new home, he taught himself guitar, and re-taught himself again after breaking a finger playing football. It was this injury that lead to his distinctive, literally over-the-top playing style, which in 1990 garnered the attention of Guitar Player Magazine in the US, after Hole sent the magazine a copy of his Short Fuse tape. A rave article from the magazine’s editor landed him a deal with US label Alligator Records, leading to a wave of coverage and a record deal and tours in Europe. Since then he has continued to tour and record, releasing the ARIA-award winning Under the Spell in 1999 and, most recently, Rough Diamond in 2007. After eight previous releases and innumerable world tours, Dave Hole is now widely regarded as one of the all-time slide guitar greats.
